Jose DiGregorio, born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, found his earliest connection to art through skateboard graphics and metal album covers, before years of laborious factory work and restless drifting led him to explore his aesthetic identity. Over nearly 30 years of painting, with numerous exhibitions and projects around the world, he has developed a signature style of intricate geometric line patterns — hand-drawn with paint markers and straight edges — layered over aerosol-sprayed celestial nebulae and prismatic gradients, creating rhythmic abstractions that invite viewers into their own Rorschach-like reflection on existence. His work is rooted in a philosophy of optimistic nihilism: a response in finding connection, purpose and liberation in life’s inherent absurdity. Above all else in his life, Jose is mostly focused on raising his two daughters while their mother navigates the advanced stages of Huntington’s Disease.
